Plants need room to grow. Packing too many plants in proximity to one another will make them compete for resources and you'll subsequently either have one plant die, or have both plants grow in much worse conditions. It's advisable to research the full size of a plant and look at how deep and how far apart the plants should be grown.
Feed your plants. The way your plants are growing can tell you what nutrients are lacking and need replacing. Feed the plant with a general purpose fertilizer, unless it has specific requirements. Foliage plants, for instance, prefer a fertilizer that is high in nitrogen.
During fall, you should plant cold weather vegetables. This year, instead of using your regular clay pots to plant your kale and lettuce, use a pumpkin as the container instead! Once you've cut its top and scooped the insides out, spray the edges and inside with Wilt-Pruf to prevent rotting. Once the pumpkin has been prepared, it is ready for planting.
